Meijiawu Tea Plantation, located in the western hinterland of West Lake Scenic Area in Hangzhou city and south of the MeiLing tunnel, is along the Meiling road on both sides with the depth of more than ten kilometers, it is also called “Ten Kilometers Mei Wu.” Meijiawu is an ancient village featuring a history of more than 600 years, and there are more than 500 rural households there with the permanent agricultural population of about 1262 people and 502 inhabitants.
Characterized by green mountain, spectacular appearance, docks, clear water, tea and profound culture, the Meijiawu Tea culture village is the first level conservation area of the West Lake Longjing Tea and one of the leading producers, and also the farm natural villages and tea culture leisure sightseeing tourist area in Hangzhou suburb that featuring strong tea characteristics. The Meijiawu Tea culture village has been honored as “Hangzhou Landscape Green Village”, “Civilization Villiage”, “Patriotism Education Base of Zhejiang Province”, “Hangzhou Top 10 Agricultural Demonstration Park”, “The Comprehensive Well-off Construction Demonstration Village”, “Zhejiang Province Farmhouse Characteristic Model”, and “National Agricultural Tourism Model” and so on.
Meijiawu Village has been a sightseeing area open to foreign guests since the fifty and sixty years in last century. It has hosted hundreds of international celebrity and head of state in recent decades, among which including the Chinese leaders such as Premier Zhouenlai, President Jiangzeming, Vice President Zeng qinghong and also some other international heads of state and government of Russia, America, Vietnam, Romania, Cambodia and friendly personnel from all over the world.
Setting in the northern foot of Langchang Hill, the Meijiawu Tea Plantation is surrounded by green mountains for four sides. Just like the Longjing and Lion Mountain, the Meijiwu Village produces the Longjing tea characterized by green color, strong fragrance, tasty flavor, beautiful shape, which won great praise in home and abroad.
When traveling there and through the Meiling tunnel, you will see green tea everywhere on mountain and farmland. Roadside tea houses attach to each other and the houses under the decoration of the green mountains there look beautiful as a painting.
